I grew up in films, imagining myself as female characters. In Iranian cinema, physical intimacy is forbidden on screen; this gap between representation and lived experience has shaped my practice. This tension informs what I call deprived embodiment in my approach to knowledge-making and storytelling.
My practice seeks those moments of fracture in hegemonic narratives, where authority holds sway yet remains unsettled by certain rituals and storytelling tools.
I record films and work with folklores, rituals, narrative gaps, stones, puppets, and glasses. I hold an MA in ViCCA: Visual Culture, Curating, and Contemporary Art from Aalto University, Finland.
